Kuwaiti Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Sabah decided to give a new deadline to amend the status of those violating residency from the first of February until the second of March 2021. The Ministry's Security Media Department stated that the decision stipulates that whoever violates his status does not submit during the aforementioned period, he will be subject to the legally prescribed penalties and will not be licensed to reside later, and he will be deported from the country and will not be allowed to return to it again.
The statement pointed out that this decision gives more time for violators to adjust their situation in order to avoid penalties and measures that will be taken by the ministry after the expiration of the new deadline, according to the Kuwait News.
He explained that the decision comes within the framework of facilitating the violators of the residency law and given the exceptional circumstances that the country is going through from the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and the consequent disruption of air traffic, stopping and reducing work in many sectors, closing the Public Authority for Manpower for a period of more than two weeks and not receiving auditors and the consequences thereof. From the inability of the violators to regularize their situation.
