Afghanistan: The death of a boy after being beaten and raped by the police

Officials said today, Wednesday, that a 13-year-old boy in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar died in hospital after an alleged local police commander and four of his companions beat and raped him. A regional police spokesman told the German news agency (dpa) that the suspects, who were guarding a checkpoint in the Dund region, had been arrested. The boy died 12 hours after he was taken to hospital.

And the accident happened about a week ago. A video clip circulated on social media shows the boy describing the ordeal before his death in hospital.
