Kissinger on the sidelines of Bloomberg's New Economic Forum that Unless there is some basis for joint action, the world will fall into a catastrophe equivalent to World War I. Today's modern military technology makes the crisis more difficult to control than it was in the past. The US and China are increasingly approaching the risk of confrontation. The two countries are also applying their foreign policy towards confrontation. What is dangerous is a real crisis, not only verbally but also military conflict.
Kissinger was the diplomat who paved the way for then America's President Richard Nixon's 1972 historic tour to China. Kissinger hopes that the challenge from the Covid-19 pandemic will give the two countries an opportunity to increase exchanges, when Mr. Biden is sworn in on January 20, 2121.
The former Foreigner. Chief Henry Kissinger said, the Covid-19 pandemic can be seen as a warning. In fact, although countries are almost handling the crisis on their own, a long-term solution must emerge on a global basis.
US-China relations have fallen to their lowest level in decades although the two countries reached a phase 1 trade agreement earlier this year.
Mr Kissinger said, the US and China have never built a relationship where the two countries are in a position of balance today. These are the first experiences and we must avoid conflicts, put our faith in a cooperation prospect.
