France: Marlène Schiappa announces the withdrawal of residence permits granted to polygamists

The bill against Islamist separatism in France, which aims to regulate the exercise of Muslim worship and fight against radicalism was presented this Wednesday by the government.
Polygamy is already prohibited in France. But this new bill stipulates that it will be prohibited to issue a residence permit to any foreigner living in France and who is in a state of polygamy. Marlène Schiappa, Minister Delegate in charge of Citizenship, has also announced that even if a person already has a residence permit, it can be withdrawn, if the state of polygamy is discovered during a check. These polygamous people may even be subject to an obligation to leave French territory, according to the government.
Marlène Schiappa also mentioned the strengthening of the fight against forced marriages. A phenomenon which represents approximately 200,000 women in France, according to associations, according to the minister.
