One of the aspects addressed by the law against separatism is the very sensitive issue of virginity certificates . These certificates applied as part of virginity checks with women is deemed non-compliant with human dignity by the French government. Many women are in fact targeted by these certificates, by their families, or their suitors who want to ensure that they have never had sex.
The government therefore wants to seize the controversial law against separatism to
prohibit these practices if they do not target the health of the woman in question,
reports Marlène Schiappa: it seems to us that respect for human dignity and respect
for equality between women and men are part of the values of the republic ... We have
decided to act in four areas on this issue. First of all, this law prohibits virginity
certificates… It will no longer be possible to draw up medical certificates unrelated to
the patient's health…. No one in France has to justify their virginity, said the minister
