Historic days for Indian cotton; Indian cotton got its brand and logo for the first time

For the first time, Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani on Thursday launched a brand and logo for Indian cotton through video conferencing on the occasion of the Second World Cotton Day. India's leading yarn in the global cotton market will now be known as 'Musk Yarn'. Musk cotton will be known for its whiteness, luster, softness, purity, luster uniqueness and Indianness.

Speaking on the occasion, Smriti Irani said, “This is a much awaited moment for Indian cotton. Today Indian cotton got the brand and logo. This is an important event as the second Cotton Day is being celebrated all over the world.

The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has given farmers the lowest ever base price for cotton. CCI has opened 430 cotton procurement centers and farmers are paid digitally in 72 hours. Also, through the mobile app 'Cot-Alley', farmers are informed about the weather, crop conditions and good farming. A discount of Rs. 300 per candy is given for MSME spinning mills, khadi and village industries, co-operative spinning mills. The minister said the government has passed agriculture bills in the interest of farmers.
