The president-elect of the United States, Joe Biden, announced on Friday the appointment of officials who will occupy key positions in his National Security Council, the main body of the Executive Branch to deal with issues that combine national security and foreign policy. Among them is Juan Sebastián González, who was appointed Senior Director for the Western Hemisphere, a key position for Latin America. I am deeply honored and ready to work, González said on his Twitter account when referring to his appointment. In his new position, Gonzalez will work under the direction of National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. Biden said, the National Security Council plays a fundamental role in keeping our nation safe, Biden announcing the new members of his administration in a press release. These highly experienced public officials will work tirelessly to protect Americans and restore America's leadership in the world. They also said that the Democratic government will seek to generate prosperity and security in Central America to create attractive conditions that prevent migration. Biden has announced a plan of about USD 4,000 million to combat poverty and insecurity in Central America, which he considers the causes of migration to the United States.
