JSC-JDC examination will not be held this time

A press release issued by the Ministry of Education on Thursday said, the 2020 JSC-JDC examination will not be held. An official of the Ministry of Education told that the Ministry of Education had sent a proposal to the Prime Minister seeking information on the JSC-JDC examination in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic. The Prime Minister has decided not to take the JSC-JDC exam this time considering the safety of students in the event of an epidemic.

The press release said, however, no decision has been taken yet on the procedure to be followed for the eighth class students to pass the next class. The ministry is working on the matter.

Earlier, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education had said that the annual examination of fifth class students would be held in their respective schools instead of the central final examination in the event of a coronavirus epidemic.

An official said, the Ministry of Education has not yet finalized whether the eighth-graders will have to sit for the annual examination if the JSC-JCD examination is not centralized.

Education Minister Dipu Moni on Thursday held a virtual meeting with officials of the Ministry of Education and heads of departments and agencies under the ministry on the education system during and after the epidemic.

A press release issued by the ministry said that if the situation is not normal, a proposal will be made on the alternative assessment system for passing the HSC examination and passing the next class at various secondary level educational institutions. Board of Education Dhaka, Department of Secondary and Higher Education and officials of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board have been instructed.

An official said, considering the overall situation, it will not be possible to take any secondary examination including HSC this time. We have to plan accordingly.
