Lufthansa suspends service from Germany to India due to dispute with government

Lufthansa has suspended all flights from Germany to India. The services were canceled from September 30 to October 20. The company said in a statement that it had canceled all its flights to India from September 30 to October 20 due to the government's

rejection of its request to operate the service in October.

According to the Air Bubble Agreement between India and Germany, Lufthansa is allowed to operate 20 services a week. But Indian airlines are only allowed to operate three or four services a week. This was in the context of the Covid-19 expansion.

The DGCA said that this would effectively benefit Lufthansa and be detrimental to Indian airlines.

Following this, Lufthansa was reduced to a maximum of seven services per week. This is what provoked the Lufthansa and the sudden decision to cancel it. It is learned that talks are underway between the two sides to seek consensus on the issue
