A Palestinian teenager died of his wounds after being beaten by Israeli soldiers near the northeastern city of Turmus-Ayya of Ramallah. The Palestinian health ministry said the teenager, named Amer Abedalrahim Snobar, arrived at the hospital after being badly beaten in the neck.
Director of the Palestine Medical Complex, Ahmed al-Bitawi, confirmed to Palestinian media on Sunday morning that Snobar died from wounds sustained in attacks by Israeli forces.
Bitawi said to Al Jazeera on Monday (26/10/2020) There were signs of a beating that could be seen on Snobar's neck.
The Palestinian Medical Complex reported that the wound on the Snobar's neck was consistent with the beating with the butt of an Israeli army rifle.
The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) said in a statement that Israeli forces carried out horrific brutality against a defenseless young man whose only crime was a Palestinian. Senior PLO official Hanan Ashrawi said in a statement that Snobar had been beaten by Israeli forces.
Snobar comes from the village of Yatma, south of the city of Nablus, the West Bank occupied by the Israeli regime. Members of the medical NGO team told Palestinian media that it tried to perform cardiac resuscitation on Snobar before transferring him to a medical center.
The Israeli army said troops responded to the incident north of Ramallah after stones were thrown at army vehicles. Troops in the area were dispatched to the scene and searched the area for attackers. Initial details indicate that upon arrival the two suspects tried to flee on foot. While escaping, one of the suspects turned out to be unconscious, collapsed and hit his head. The suspect was not beaten by IDF forces.
In a statement, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) said Snobar's assassination would be a curse that will continue to haunt Arab traitors a reference to recent normalization deals by the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan with Israel. The response to this heinous crime is to withdraw the recognition of the Zionist entity and all the treaties that result from it, and the formation of a unified national leadership capable of leading the people's resistance against the Zionist occupation.
