Switzerland: Easyjet wants to ramp up operations at the EAP by the summer

The Swiss usually start planning their vacation at the end of March. But because of the pandemic, the spring or summer holidays sometimes look a little more vague. The destinations that the airline may and may fly to can change quickly due to the pandemic.

Easyjet is currently planning to fly to destinations in Greece, Croatia and partially Italy from Basel Airport, as the bz writes. Also a few cities like Amsterdam, Madrid and London, as well as the Canary Islands.

The demand for flights is there, a spokesman for Easyjet told the newspaper. Around 66 percent of 1,000 respondents had already booked a trip or were at least in planning. However, it is still too unclear how demand will develop in view of the pandemic. If the situation allows, Easyjet plans to ramp up operations at Euro-Airport significantly by the summer and fly to 50 to 60 summer destinations.

In October, Easyjet announced that two of the twelve planes stationed at Euro-Airport (EAP) would be dismantled. But as research by the "bz" shows, the Easyjet fleet is still the same size. And the jobs originally proposed to be cut were also retained.
