The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia dominated on Sept 27 to suspend the implementation of the U.S. government's body order to get rid of TikTok from the U.S. mobile app store
The U.S. Department of Commerce responded on the evening of the 27th: It will obey the court ruling, but will still actively defend the ban and the Secretary of State’s enforcement measures to avoid legal challenges.
On the afternoon of September 25, the Donald Trump administration submitted a document to the US court against TikTok's request to stop the "ban order". The court held a hearing on the 27th to hear this request of the Trump administration.
Previously, U.S. President Trump announced two executive orders in August on the grounds of "national security": The U.S. government banned app stores in the U.S. from providing TikTok and WeChat two Chinese apps on September 20. Download and update services will be completely banned on TikTok applications from November 12, unless the TikTok US business completes the transaction.
On Sept 19, the Trump administration proclaimed that it'd put the "ban" on Sept 20 to the 27th.
On September 23, TikTok's parent company and Chinese technology company Bytedance filed a complaint with the US court, requesting the court to stop the "ban order" issued by Trump.
ByteDance claimed within the indictment that Trump’s government order violated the primary amendment to the U.S. Constitution and due process of law.
On the 24th, the U.S. court held a hearing on this issue. The judge stated that if the Trump administration objected to Bytedance’s request, it must submit an application before 14:30 on September 25. The court submits legal documents, otherwise it must announce the postponement of the "ban order" on TikTok.
Bloomberg reported that Trump’s “ban” on TikTok is part of his recent series of tough measures against China, which he believes will help him succeed in his re-election as President of the United States.
