USA Today Reported that Joe Biden defund the police to beat the living hell out of Democrats

On Tuesday USA Today reported that, President-elect Joe Biden told civil rights leaders in a meeting on Tuesday he thought Republicans used the defund the police movement to defeat Democrats in down ballot races in the November election.

According to Biden, he said in audio obtained by The Intercept, that’s how they beat the living hell out of us across the country, saying that we’re talking about defunding the police. We’re not. We’re talking about holding them accountable. We are talking about giving them money to do the right things. We are talking about putting more psychologists and psychiatrists on the telephones when the 911 calls through. We are talking about spending money to enable them to do their jobs better not with more force with less force and more understanding.

Other Democrats have pointed to the defund the police slogan as responsible for losses in the House such as Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., though progressives have pushed back on that characterization.
